Paper Mache Wall Reliefs

Papier Mache Wall Reliefs is a very direct and fast paced program to explore form, texture, paint and a mosaic process. The mache has the paint mixed in so we call this medium sculpture paint. The students are building form and thinking color and texture all at the same time. Often times, students work back into the mash with added paint for blending effects or drawing into the mash. The mosaic process will contain any of the following elements: pattern, texture, color, scale of object in relationship to placement and so forth. This project is appropriate for all ages. The photos are from a program at Pierce Elementary School in Milwaukee. The students and the work are shown at their exhibit at the Betty Brinn Museum, spring 2006.
