Creating original fiberglass sculptures allows for an economical and permanent art form. Fiberglassing is actually a very old art process. The process of fiberglassing has evolved from the time of the Egyptian mummies. The mummies were wrapped in linen cloth and nature 's resin. Today, we use a man-made cloth called fiberglass and a man-made resin for exterior permanence and strength. The fiberglass is sprayed and rolled over the form I have made of wood, plastic, foams and a modeling compound. This layering process gives the form impact resistance, weight and a "hand in clay " feel.

Like the art process used, the sculptures represent a layering of meanings within their fantastical shell. For example, the "World Roots" series is derived from ancient letter form s depicting words of hope. At first glance, the "World Roots" pieces are whimsical abstractions, yet their totemic or landscape transformation of 3500 year old letters, represent a branching of history stemming from one word acting as a symbol for humanity. The fantasy aspect of the sculptures, represents the beginning of dreams for humankind. The bold and varied color represents the healing for man's heart. The patterns and design in the painting represent the many cultures of the world.

Preliminary drawings become a necessity for custom work and often times for my own thought process. Through the drawings, I am able to communicate with the client my ideas. Sometimes, I will even create maquettes of clay for clients who do not transfer a 2- dimensional image into a 3-dimensional sculpture.

The whole process of creating sculptures allows me to draw, paint and sculpt. The positive messages I strive to communicate allow me to share my visions and to help others see living and dreaming as a gift to us all.
